Prima Facie and FastSCAN join forces to create
a 3D Virtual Surgery Assistant
Delivered as a self-contained virtual surgery assistant, Prima Facie provides physicians and surgeons with detailed 3D patient mapping and surface information. This information is essential in pinpointing the precise location for radiotherapy treatments, producing non-invasive masks for burn patients, and in developing prosthetic devices with a more precise fit.
FastSCAN 3D Handheld Laser Scanner and Prima Facie
Using Polhemus' FastSCAN 3D Handheld Laser Scanner, a detailed map of the surface area of the patient is captured digitally. FastSCAN produces a highly accurate 3D map of the surface of the patient within seconds. This enables the positioning of the patient for radiotherapy treatment to be rapidly compared with that in a previous reference scan and any differences detected. Prima Facie also allows any number of accurately positioned contours to be produced from the virtual patient 3D data at any time and exported to dha's Treatment Planning System via a DICOM 3.0 link.
